Leyna began her career at Olsten Staffing Services, a national firm where she was the youngest branch manager in the firm’s history. Hired as the first HR Director for The Nature Company, she was part of the senior management team that grew the speciality retailer from a regional to a national company, overseeing recruiting for all retail stores and the corporate headquarters. She continued her human resources career as the Manager of Recruiting Research for the Gap, Inc. where she and her staff identified senior talent for executive positions across all Gap brands. She capped her corporate career as Vice President of Human Resources and Administration for Smith & Hawken. In 1990 she opened an HR consulting practice, and provided executive search services for both corporate and nonprofit clients.
Luke’s professional experience spans the corporate, public and nonprofit sectors. He began his career as an environmental planner working for Humboldt and Solano Counties. After business school, Luke worked in software marketing for IBM, Informix and SchemaLogic. Prior to forming our firm, he worked as a consultant and in senior staff positions with green business and solar energy organizations. A recovering political junkie, Luke has run over 25 local and regional political campaigns as a volunteer. He served on the board of the Humboldt Access Project and as Chair of the Waterfront Committee for the City of Albany.
Juan was born in Mexico and immigrated with his family to California’s Central Valley as a young child. A recent graduate of U.C. Berkeley with a B.A. in Anthropology, Juan joined us after working as a Circulation Assistant in the Chemistry Library at his alma mater. He has also worked at the Phoebe Hearst Museum of Anthropology. Since we believe the right chemistry is vital to a successful leadership hire, and that our work is similar to cultural anthropology, Juan is a great fit for our team.
Clara is a professional trainer, facilitator, and process consultant with extensive background in education and counseling. As a consultant in Organization Development, she has worked in the corporate, and the public sector, helping organizations work through the process of strategic planning, change and transition. Clara led the Executive Search Services consulting practice at The Management Center, a nonprofit support center serving all of Northern California, and served as a Trainer and Organizational Development Specialist with Kaiser Permanente. Her workshops on leadership partnering skills and relational empowerment focus on employee retention by creating workplaces that value individuals while supporting the organizational mission.
